VINTAGE 24.5in. LONG ART DECO SMOKED AMBER FACETED GLASS BEADS NECKLACE * This vintage faceted glass beads necklace is from the estate of a woman, who was born around the turn of the last century and was a world traveler and life long collector of beads. During the 1970's she and a friend restrung many of her treasures and set them aside. They generally favored longer strands of beads with knotting in between beads. This necklace measures 24.5 inches long end to end. For reference the largest beads measure 13.5mm's (1/2") and the smallest beads are about 7mm's--please see Photo No. 3 to further gauge the size of the beads.. * The beads are a dark smoked amber color. The cord is a dark brown, the beads have been finished at the back with goldtone bead caps and the brass clasp is a vintage barrel screw clasp. * CONDITION: the necklace has never been worn since it was restrung in the 1970's as it was in storage with the rest of the collector's beads and necklaces. The beads are a lot older than the restringing and go back to sometime in the Art Deco period so they do show signs of age. They appear to me to be in good condition but there are some nibbles in the glass, however, I don't see anything that is not in keeping with the old age of the beads--please enlarge and view all photographs.
