I bought a “junk box” containing all kinds of old electronic parts and supplies at an estate sale of a man who repaired radios and TVs for 40 or 50 years. In it, I found this Bell System F1 handset made by Western Electric complete with the cord attached. The marking “10-51” appears on one component and the marking “11-51” appears on two components (see photos) so I believe this handset was made in 1951. Other than being dirty and showing normal wear it is in excellent condition. I do not have any way of testing it but his son who was executor of the estate said he believed everything was tested and working because his dad wouldn’t have saved them if they were no good, which makes sense. However, see my guarantee below; if you buy this and it is no good I’ll stand by my guarantee. The two taped areas (see photo 1) appear to just be holding loose ends of the wire together. I did not remove the tape to check though (see cleaning note below). I could only find one “scrub mark” which may have been made by dropping the handset (see photo 12).
