DESCRIPTION: Vintage Celluloid Figural Tape Measure. It is listed on page 47 in the Collecting Figural Tape Measaures with Price Guide Book by Arbittier and Morphy. Stated: BLACK MAN WITH CIGARETTE. MATERIAL: CELLULOID ORIGIN: GERMANY MECHANISM: SPRING. I purchased many years ago at an Antique Store. Unfortunately, my Tape Measure is without the tape (could be rolled up inside) or Cigarette. It does have the Spring Mechanism inside, which I tried to show in my last photo. Using a flash, you can see the shiny metal when you look into the mouth. Maybe the tape is still inside the mechanism, but I have no idea. I know if the end is missing, in this case that would be the Cigarette, and you pull the tape, it will completely roll all up inside the spring mechanism. APPROX. SIZE: 1 1/2" Height CONDITION: I mentioned that the Cigarette pull is missing. The tape maybe inside the Mechanism, but have no way to know for sure. So if you are bidding, take this into consideration - bid as both Cigarette and Tape are missing. The Spring Mechanism is still inside the man's head. The Celluloid is in Wonderful Condition.
