VTG Ertl SR-71 Blackbird USAF Diecast Fighter Black Jet For Sale: Force One Series Ertl Diecast USAF SR-71 Blackbird Fighter Black Toy Jet with rubber wheels/landing gear and dark plastic cockpit cover. Made in China after 1989. Manufacturing batch number stamped on underside is 0598G. This jet is in good played with condition with some scratches and chips - please refer to photos. These toys were very well made and made to last. The retractable landing gear work just fine. 10" long x 5 1/2" at the widest Authentically detailed Decals A little history on the Ertl Force One diecast jets: First introduced in 1987, usually in 1/100th scale. They started to be manufactured in Macau but then changed in 1989 to China. The are extremely well manufactured with smooth and detailed castings. All but two aircraft (the SR-71 and the B-1) were manufactured with clear canopies and miniature pilots. The name of the planes were never stamped on the jet. The number that is printed on the bottom of the plane is the manufacturing batch number. The oldest issues have aluminum tires, then as time went on they changed them to black plastic tires, also all of the planes have retractable landing gears.
