This pin is just HUGE at 3 3/8" x 2 3/4" and is gold electroplated on heavy silver base metal. It is just stunning in its size and its detailed workmanship. This is very, very heavy at 35 grams -- extremely well made. Closing on the back with a well working safety clasp, this pin will make quite a statement when worn! Alva Studios was in business from 1957 to 1990. The mark on this pin was used by them starting in 1960 and stopped being used about 1977. Alva was well known for using actual museum artifacts to reproduced objects for museum gift shops to sell. They are known for their exacting reproductions of the artifacts as well as for the quality of their workmanship.A simply stunning piece!
