Vintage hand painted Japan miniature flower or star shaped tiny cup with hand painted miniature orange poppy plate saucer. The tiny cup has six points at the top that could be described as either star shaped or shaped like a flower. The interior glaze looks like white lustre wear. The edges are gold gilt trimmed. The front of the little cup has a hand painted orange tree. The little plate / saucer has a tiny opening where it can hang to display. It is also gold gilt trimmed and the painting is an orange poppy flower. The edges are scalloped to the saucer and rather in the shape of a leaf or flower. I believe this set goes together, but the individual painted items are different on each, but colors are the same orange, the same marking and have been displayed together for many decades - Both pieces marked Japan on the back in orange Size: diameter of the saucer is approx. 4 inches; the height of the cup is approx. 1 ½ inches high and approx. 2 inches across. Could be considered doll tea party set size. Condition: very lovely – no chips, no cracks, designs are still lovely. Possibly some light wear to the gold gilt edging.
