Featured here is a darling little Japanese Kimekomi Geisha Girl Doll with a rare, little white fluffy dog seated on a little wooden chair. Both items are Made in Japan. The doll stands 5.75 inches tall and is about 4 inches wide; the dog is about 4 inches tall. I think the dog is a white Spitz or Shihtsu -- not sure. I am not an expert on dogs. The two complement each other well. Kimekomi dolls are made from blocks of wood or clay and beatuiful fabrics are inserted into thin line crevices that are cut into the blocks by the doll designer, to hold the beautiful fabrics in place. They are a very old, traditional doll making craft in Japan. The fabric in this doll are a pale green silk inside the kimono sleeves and a bright orange brocade with gold metallic thread. These little dogs were very popular in Japan in the 1950s and 1960s; he is fabulous condition for his age. The little chair is constructed of wood and has three legs; it is very stable. The back is gold cord tied to look like spindles in the chair back. Very clever design. The little white dog is very clean, with no missing fur or stains. These both come from my personal collection. No other props in the photos are included in this listing; only the doll and the chair with the little dog.
