This is the sheet music of a college song for NORWICH UNIVERSITY in Northfield, VT titled " THE SPIRIT OF OLD N. U." . Music and words by GUS NELSON. Music and words are included on both sides of the page, only the first is shown It is from a 1938 book of college songs. This music is in great condition - of course the paper has that lovely yellowing color of old books. When framed, this would make a wonderful Christmas, graduation or birthday gift for any NORWICH student, graduate or alumni. Page measures approximately 9x12". Comes from a smoke free home. NORWICH UNIVERSITY 1819 - Founded by Alden Partridge at Norwich, Vermont as "The American Literary, Scientific, and Military Academy." 1820 - Band organized, oldest collegiate band in the nation. First instruction in Civil Engineering offered in the United States. 1825 - Academy moves to Middletown, Connecticut. 1829 - Academy moved back to Norwich, Vermont following Connecticut's refusal to grant a charter. 1831 - Construction started on the North Barracks 1834 - Academy received a charter from the State of Vermont recognizing the institution as Norwich University.
