Vtg. Oak & Maple Machinist's Tool Box Chest - Corbin Locks - Spring Loaded Lid Vintage Tool Dental Artist Chest This auction is for a vintage machine shop tool chest. The chest measures 16" across X 9-1/4" deep X 15" tall. It is fitted with Corbin Locks and it has a spring loaded top that opens when all 3 latches are unlocked. I do noy have a key for this chest. I purchased this at an auction where it was listed as an artist's chest. An interested eBayer told me that it was a Gerstner and he thought that it was a dentist's chest. In any event, it has multiple applications and would serve any of those folks very well. I do not know the maker of this and it is most likely a Gerstner design. The Corbin locks also suggest Gerstner. The wood looks to be a combination of oak and maple. It has brass guards on all corners. The chest is in very good to excellent condition. The drawers were recently relined with green felt. The front panel does not stay in place tightly, so some work might need to be done there. It is also missing one drawer pull (lower left) which should be easy to replace. Other than that, it's in great shape.
