THIS PRIMITIVE PAINTING WAS DONE ON A WOOD BOARD THAT IS APPROX. 1/2" THICK. IT IS SIGNED CMG, AND DATED. PART OF THE DATE IS MISSING...BUT THE 7 IS CLEAR...AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE NEXT NUMBER WAS LIKELY A ZERO. I BELIEVE IT IS OIL...BUT I AM NOT POSITIVE. THIS IS A VERY WELL-EXECUTED PAINTING, AND WAS LIKELY DONE BY SOMEONE WITH ILLUSTRATING SKILLS. ONE OF THE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT IT, IS THAT THE LIGHT BROWN TONES ARE THE ACTUAL WOOD COLOR, AND NOT PAINT. THERE IS WEAR TO THIS BEAUTIFUL OLD PAINTING, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS. SOME OF THE BLUE UNDERCOATING IS SHOWING THROUGH, AND THERE IS A RAISED CRACKLING TO THE PAINT IN MANY SPOTS, AS WELL AS SOME SCUFFS HERE AND THERE. BUT THE COLORS ARE PLEASING AND BRIGHT, AND THE PICTURE DOES DISPLAY WELL. IT HAS BEEN SHELLACKED OVER AT SOME POINT, AND THERE ARE SOME DRIPS DOWN THE SIDES OF THE BOARD. PLEASE VIEW ALL THE PHOTOS TO FURTHER DETERMINE CONDITION...AND REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE BIDDING ON AN ITEM THAT DOES SHOW WEAR. Helloand thank you for taking a look at my listings. Please remember that these are vintage used items, and they can be expected to show age-appropriate signs of wear. I do my best to describe my items accurately and honestly. I always try to list the dimensions of my items…so please be sure to take note of them, as photos are taken close up so you can see the detail. read more
