Here we have a really beautiful vintage Lea Stein swallow brooch in ivory and faux tortoise cellulose acetate plastic. In the form of a Lea Stein swallow, this brooch is from her vintage era dating to the late 1960's- 1970's period. Layers of cellulose acetate plastic were laminated to form multi-coloured sheets which are then hand worked into these pieces. This swallow in full flight has an ivory coloured body with a laminated fabric surface to form geometric squares and diamonds. The wings and beak are one piece of cellulose plastic in brown & light brown faux tortoise shell. It has a multi-layered round head in browns & white with wonderfully defined and visible eyes. On the back is a V shaped pin-back with locking barrel clasp and it is signed "LEA STEIN PARIS". This piece measures 82mm (3 1/4") long, 20mm (3/4") wide and retains the original "Made in FRANCE" foil label. There is very light wear and a few small stray nicks on the tortoise shell wings. On the wings are what appear to be straight scribe marks which we believe are part of the original making process. This beautiful vintage Lea Stein swallow brooch will make a wonderful addition to any collection and no two are ever the same .
