Mike Silvey, Gary Boyd and Frank Trzaska describe this knife in their U.S. Military Knives Bayonets and Machetes Price Guide as "Double edged stiletto similar to Case unmarked". This hard-to-find WW II fighting stiletto would make an important addition to any collection.As mentioned in the listing subtitle, this knife can be seen on page 100 of M.H. Cole's The Best of U.S. Military Knives Bayonets & Machetes . This stiletto measures 10 15/16" overall. The blade itself measures 6 7/8" long. The handle is made of stacked leather. The guard is steel, and the mushroom top pommel is made of 'pot metal'. Just as the metal handle on the U.S.M.C. Raider stiletto does, the pommel on this knife develops little cracks over time (see photos). The stitched and riveted sheath is unmarked as well. Condition: This rare unmarked stiletto fighting knife is in very good condition. The blade has very little, if any, pitting--it looks like there is only carbon staining on the blade. The knife edges have been honed. The steel guard has only the most minimal of movement--this movement is so slight that it won't be noticed unless a person specifically grasps the guard and attempts to wiggle it to check for movement. The pommel is a little loose so it will move a little when grasping it to check for movement. The pommel has the little cracks previously mentioned. The pommel is solid, but has deteriorated some as is characteristic of the type of material used to make it--this knife would be best displayed and not carried. The scabbard has all stitching and rivets intact. The keeper strap is torn so the male end of the snap is missing. The leather is pretty dry, and there are dark stains on the back of the sheath. It does look pretty cool though when matched with the stiletto.
