Vtg WWII Era Bicycle Handlebar 5 American Flag & Shield Display Bike Accessory Description Vintage American flag bicycle handlebar accessory dating from World War II era. Five 48-star U.S. flags arrayed over metal stars-and-stripes shield. Painted metal assembly on back for bolting unit on to bike. Two nuts for hand tightening. Assembly is about 11" in height; flags are 4" x 5 1/2". Good condition. Shield and flags are vivid without much fading. Middle flag is shorter and a little different, so it seems to be a correct period replacement. Other four flags are original. End hem on one flag partially out. Original nuts in place. Just a little rust on inside of clamp where it fit on to bike (third photo). Metal shield took a few hits as second photo shows. Item was definitely used but is still has a striking patriotic bike accessory.
