A beautifully decorated Wallace sterling silver vegetable serving bowl in the 1937 Stradivari pattern. The bowl was presented as a trophy and is engraved as follows 'Thoroughbred Horse Breeders Association of New Jersey 1956 Yearling Show Reserve Colt Class presented by Monmouth Park Jockey Club'. The winning horse was 'Handshake' by Your host out of Eight Days. The horse was owned by prominent sports woman and animal rights activist, the late Allaire DuPont. The bowl measures 10" diameter, is 1 3/4" deep and weighs 9 ounces. It is in excellent condition with only 1 small ding on the rolled top edge. Beautiful raised relief decoration around the top with swirls, scrolls and floral accents. The base is stamped 'Wallace, sterling, 4750, Stradivari'. A lovely piece of silver for any table.
