Offered here is a War of 1812 period US wooden canteen and heavy cotton duck haversack. Both are excellent and authentic reporduction items that would complelemt an impression or display. The haversack is period correct consonstruction and has been used enough to give it nice character. The straps and bag are all sound with no holes or staining. The button fasteners are pewter. The canteen is painted the distinctive medium blue of the period and with the US logo in white. It is steel banded with a leather strap and period correct buckle. The canteen is in good shape but it appears as if one of the wooden stays along the side has shrunk or split a bit. I'm pretty sure that soaking would swell it shut and it may need another coat of beeswax inside but I do not guarantee that the canteen will hold water in its present state.
