WARTIME featuring HENRY ROLLINS of ROLLINS BAND and BLACK FLAGand ANDREW WEISS of WEEN / ROLLINS BAND / Greg Ginn band GONE / " Fast Food For Thought " PROMOTIONAL COPY of 1990 12" black vinyl EP on Chrysalis Records F1 21753UNPLAYEDNM This is the original 1990 pressing of their side project that was vaguely secretive, withALL MUSIC written and performed by AndrewandALL VOCALS written and performed by Rollinson the rear cover, but nothing that told you it was a HENRY ROLLINS project.Eventually it was reissued and Hank's name was added to the cover.Possibly the weirdest thing about it is that they cover a GRATEFUL DEAD track. Andrew Weiss is a bass guitarist and producer.He produced and played bass for most of the Ween albums; for Greg Ginn's post Black Flag band Gone; and for ex-Black Flag singer Henry Rollins' Rollins Band from 1987 to 1993. Weiss was also a member of Regressive Aid with William Tucker and fellow Rollins Band member Sim Cain.Weiss has also appeared as a guest playing for Yoko Ono, Pigface, and the Butthole Surfers. He played with and produced Johnny Depp's band "P". In 2001 he produced a piece called "Dark Satanic Witch" by Junkygood, a New Jersey based band with former members of the Semibeings, brothers Joe and Pat Baker, at his studio, the Zion House of Flesh. In 2002 Weiss produced current Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz's duo band Instant Death's debut album, "New Evil Vibe". He has also produced albums for Latin rock bands Babasónicos and Cafe Tacuba. He was also featured as the bass player in the movie It's Pat.Production work on the Ween albums was done at his studio, Zion House of Flesh, in western New Jersey.Andrew Weiss was the drummer of the short-lived punk rock band Ed's Toolshed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Henry Rollins (born February 13, 1961 as Henry Lawrence Garfield) is an American singer-songwriter, radio DJ, spoken word artist, actor, activist and publisher.After joining the short-lived Washington D.C. band State of Alert in 1980, Rollins fronted the California hardcore punk band Black Flag from 1981 until 1986. Following the band's breakup, Rollins soon established the record label and publishing company 2.13.61 to release his spoken word albums, as well as forming the Rollins Band, which toured with a number of lineups until 2003 and during 2006.Since Black Flag, Rollins has embarked on projects covering a variety of media. He has hosted numerous radio shows, such as Harmony In My Head, television shows, such as MTV's 120 Minutes and Jackass, along with roles in several films. Rollins has also campaigned for human rights in the United States, promoting gay rights in particular, and tours overseas with the United Service Organizations to entertain American troops.Before Black Flag broke up in August 1986, Rollins had already toured as a solo spoken word artist. He released two solo records in 1987, Hot Animal Machine, a collaboration with guitarist Chris Haskett, and Drive by Shooting, recorded as "Henrietta Collins and the Wifebeating Childhaters"; Rollins also released his second spoken word album, Big Ugly Mouth in the same year. Along with Haskett, Rollins soon added Andrew Weiss and Sim Cain, both former members of Ginn's side-project Gone, and called the new group Rollins Band. Rollins and Weiss released Fast Food For Thought, an EP by their one-off side project Wartime in 1990. It was sonically in many ways more reminiscent of Weiss' work with Ween than the Rollins Band. The music, while heavy and driving, had a distinctly psychedelic bent, culminating in the final track, a cover of "Franklin's Tower" by The Grateful Dead. Early pressings were simply credited to "Wartime" while later releases added the phrase "featuring Henry Rollins" to the cover.
