Really nice Washoe storage basket from the early 1900's. The basket was given to a friend by his teacher when he was in the 7th grade, he is now in his late 60's. The school w he went was in Northern California. I had the origin authenticated by "The Gallery of the American West" which has been in business in the Sacramento area for over 30 years. His evaluation is as follows..."Your basket is an early 20th Century storage basket. The origin is Washoe from the Lake Tahoe/Carson City area and is constructed of willow and redbud". T is some repair needed along the top rim (see pictures) and a couple of stitches missing on one side of the basket. Other than that, the basket is very sturdy and quite nice. The basket is 7 1/4 inches tall, it is slightly oval in shape at the top so one way it is 16 3/4 inches across and the other is 17 3/4 inches, the base measures approximately 11 1/2 inches across.
