termitefox 100% FEEDBACK WATERCOLOUR AND PENCIL 23CM X 15CM (40CM X 32CM framed) ATTRIBUTED TO William Frederick Mitchell (1847-1914) Painted with great care and precision this is a very accurate depiction of the 1st Class Battleship, HMS Rodney. William Frederick Mitchell was a British artist commissioned to paint various Royal Navy ships. His collected works were originaly published by The Royal Navy in a series of illustrations. He has many works in the National Maritime Museum . He lived most of his life near Portsmouth and painted pictures of ships for their officers and owners. He also illustrated Brassey's Naval Annual An example of a similar sized pair of Fred Mitchells which sold for £1800 at Sothebys.
