GREAT WATKINS STEREOVIEW Â- Â'THE SENTINELÂ' AND HUTCHINGS HOTEL sold without reserve "1087. The Sentinel, 3270 feet." Albumen stereoview from the series WATKINSÂ' PACIFIC COAST. Flat card, yellow mount. Photographed and published by Carleton Watkins, 22 and 26 Montgomery Street, San Francisco. Circa 1860s. Size, 3 ½ by 6 7/8 inches.Shown in this view is the Hutchings Hotel, owned by James Hutchings, a Yosemite pioneer who in 1855 led the first tourist party into the valley.Very nice medium to dark tonal quality; light age toning, chipping at left bottom corner of mount.
