RELISTED DUE TO NON-PAYMENT WEDGWOOD PINDISH "AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER?" From 1787 until his death in 1795, Josiah Wedgwood actively participated in the Abolition of Slavery cause. His most important contribution to the movement, the Slave Medallion, was one which brought the attention of the public to the horrors of the slave trade. In 1787 a Jasper copy of the emblem was produced by Wedgwood, intended to adorn hat pins, brooches and other fashion accessories in order to make known the suffering of slaves. This pin dish is not in perfect condition, if you have a close look at picture 2, there is a tiny little bit of black missing under the slave's right foot. Hardly noticeable, but I thought I better tell you. Still a very interesting dish, especially if you are interested in history.
