Cabin Class Collectibles is now on Facebook! 17738 – Weller Louwelsa art pottery vase Burgess – 11.75” A large vase from Weller Pottery with a wonderful Native American portrait we believe is attributable to Weller artist Levi J. Burgess. The vase stands a bit less than 11.75" in height, measures 2.75" in diameter at the rim and slightly less than 3" in diameter at the foot. The Louwelsa mark and accompanying letters and numerals are clearly visible stamped into the base. Condition is excellent. The piece exhibits fine surface crazing but no cracks or repairs. There are two flakes visible on the base; however we are unable to determine if these are manufacturing flaws or subsequent damage. Neither detracts when the piece is standing upright. The portrait is simply and subtly rendered in brown and green tones. Quite striking and a fine example of Ohio art pottery. This item will weigh in excess of 4 lbs when properly packaged. Winning bidder will be responsible for insurance (required for this listing). Please await our invoice prior to submitting payment and contact us should you wish to increase the insured value above that of your bid price.
