This is a piece of Weller Pottery in wonderful condition. This is the sugar bowl from the famous Mammy set of kitchenware produced by Weller around 1930. The sugar bowl is accented with ribs which are highlighted with the lightest blue. The handles are wonderfully created from two small black children holding on and reaching around the bowl. The lid is trimmed with the matching blue lines around the edge, as half a watermelon serves as the knob. This piece is in exquisite condition with NO chips, NO cracks, No paint loss, NO damage and no repairs. There is very minor crazing, though none stained or distracting. The tinge of yellow you see on the lid's rim is simply where the white paint did not cover the pottery completely. It is underglaze. Marked Weller, with an A on the bottom as well, which signifies the artists name that did the painting. This was purchased in 2001 for $550.00 when the market for Mammy was very hot.
