This is an Antique Weller Etna Standard Glaze Decorated Vase. It was first produced by the Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio in 1906. The vase is just over 6 inches tall and features an embossed mum on a green stem with green leaves on a gloss brown standard glaze background. It is marked on the bottom with the die impressed Weller Ware mark and the die impressed Etna mark. A good discussion ot the Etna Pattern is found in "The Collector's Encyclopedia of Weller Pottery" by Sharon and Bob Huxford at page 104. I believe this vase is quite rare as I have seen no Etna with this color glaze and according to all the references I have read Etna was only produced in the colors of soft gray and rose. The vase has a little roughness on the bottom and some faint crazing. Neither detract from the overall beauty of the piece. I bought the vase as mint and I call these minor imperfections only for the sake of acccuracy. This piece is in otherwise excellent condition especially considering that it is over 100 years old. I work very hard to correctly describe everything I sell but I am not perfect. I not only check the item, it is checked by a second person.
