I am selling several quality knives this week, time permitting. I have done my best to show any problems with the knives in my pictures, and will do my best to describe the knives I am offering. Thanks for looking, and good luck with your bidding! This is an older, early version of the popular Western Bowie knife that became a classic. The knife has a carbon steel blade, brass angular S-shaped guard, and rosewood handles attached to the full tang with three small brass pins. It has been carried, used, and sharpened. The upper, "false" edge, aka swage, is also sharpened. It is stamped on three lines with "WESTERN/ BOWIE /U. S. A." The sheath is leather, the second version, with a brass ring and a leather hanger for the belt, similar in design to Finnish knife sheaths such as those made for the puukko and leuku knives. It allows the wearer to sit and have the knife swing forward and lay on the seat instead of being stiff and binding against the belt and pushing up. There is no keeper at the top of the sheath: previous owner used leather thong to hold knife in place, and added another thong at the bottom to hold the knife against the leg. The read more
