Offered here is a bright red and gold gilt painted tin that once held 100 Number 6 Strength Blasting Caps manufactured by the Western Cartridge Company in East Alton, Illinois. Famous Western logo front and center on lid. The Western Cartridge Company manufactured ammunition along with blasting caps, with the process of using Fulminate of Mercury for the explosive being about the same. Great display piece.
