early to mid-20th century and oil on canvas, signed Clair V. Fry lower left. A fine Western landscape with a bear and cup in the middleground valley. In a wood frame; 21" x 26" (sight), 25.5" x 30" (w/frame). CLAIR FRY (20th cent.) was a painter and illustrator who served as Art Director of Brown & Bigelow for several decades, and was closely associated with artists such as Maxfield Parrish, Philip Goodwin and Andrew Loomis. Condition: Previously cleaned, otherwise excellent condition.
