Clear hand-blown, tooled-lip American glass whiskey flask in the shape of a whisk broom. I believe this was made sometime in the mid to late 1890s, or possibly in the very early 1900s? The glass is basically clear, with perhaps a VERY very faint gray-blue tinge typical of some early clear glass that has been decolorized with manganese. I took one pic which shows the glass glows the sickly yellow-brownish-green color under a blacklight, showing that it does contain manganese. The upper part of the bottle has a pattern vaguely reminescent of the EAPG patterns "Queen" or "Sunken Buttons" or "Daisy and Button". The lower portion is composed of strongly designed vertical ribbing. The sides of the flask horizontal short ribs similar to a "zipper" motif. The base is unmarked. The lip has a shallow chip, which is not seen when displayed from the opposite side, as shown in some of the pics. The flask displays wonderfully. This would make an ideal candidate for a professional lip repair with resin, as the actual amount of glass missing is very small, and the chip does not go all the way across/through the lip. There is a faint, very tiny light-refracting inner fracture a short distance from the chip, which is not noticeable from most angles, but I must mention it for accuracy. NO other damage, virtually no content stain or sickness. This read more
