Hand made in rural Aberdeenshire by Fintray Fine Framing. This is a picture of the iconic Slains Castle near Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire shot at daybreak to give the amazing pink and blue colours. Slains Castle is often said to have the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula story. The frame is made from reclaimed whisky barrel staves which are solid oak. Using the curved staves gives a very pleasing 3D effect to the finished frame. Plastic glass is used in this frame due to it's curvature. This particular frame is made from a port wine barrel which has given the timber a very distinct maroon colour, this frame is also concave rather than convex and looks particulary good on curved walls. The photograph is double mounted in an off-white colour board. The overall size of the frame is 88 x 39 centimetres approx. The size of the photo is 56 x 18 centimetres approx. The photograph is printed on Epson paper using Epson inks and should be lightfast for 75 years. Fintray Fine Framing are a picture framing company who specialise in producing their own frame mouldings from reclaimed timbers. Not only is this incredibly good for the enviroment but the finished frames have outstanding natural beauty rarely found in todays quick grown timber. Typical wood types used are Ash, Beech, Mahogany, Oak, Pine, Pitch Pine, Teak and Walnut.
