You are bidding on a Whiting Sterling Silver PAT. 1891 Louis XV Raised Master Butter Spreader with a letter "B" monogram It's a beautiful Master butter knife spreader, ornately decorated. I am not an expert so its difficult to elaborate on this Louis XV master butter spreader. If any of my details are incorrect please email me and let me know. I consider this a master butter spreader because it's larger than my other ones. It measures 71/4" in total length. I consider it raised because the handle is raised somewhat higher than the blade. However, overall it is flat. Please see images for greater detail. The end of the handle on the face of this spreader has the Monogram letter "B," the back of the handle bares only the trademark of Whiting, the words sterling, and the patent date 1891, closer to the blade end. No other markings are present. As with any item I sell. I try to be as thorough in my description as I can be. Including comments about imperfections. Please note that the last quarter of the end of the blade, closer to the tip has a slight warp to it; it's not completely flat when held in position. It is not noticeable in images.
