A really striking and very rare patterned antique china tea trio (cup, saucer and rounded plate) by Wileman & Co., The Foley China, predecessors of Shelley, England, in their delicate 'Snowdrop' shape dating from the late 1890's. The elaborate decoration comprises large old fashioned blue/green roses with pink and green leaf foliage on gold panels and also small white flowers with brown foliage on bright yellow panels with gilt rims and cup handle, the rose being repeated on the inside of the cup and in the centre of the plate; with so much gold present the trio must have cost a fortune to produce. The cup stands two and a quarter inches in height with an upper rim diameter of three and a quarter inches; the saucer diameter is five and five eighth inches and the plate diameter is seven and one eighth inches. The backstamp is that of the crowned monogram 'W & Co. England, The Foley China' one as applied to the factory's wares during the period 1890-1910 with (on the saucer and plate) painted pattern number 6928, entered in the pattern books in the year 1896, and (on the cup) Registered Number 272764 as applicable to the Snowdrop shape. All three pieces have a clear ring and the trio is in excellent condition with all the gilding and rim edging properly intact and unrubbed; certainly no chips, cracks or hairlines nor any scratching, read more
