Fairbairn SykesFighting Knife Sheffield Englandwith Leather Scabbard After much research, I am listing this knife as post war era knife, most likely produced between the 1950's - 1970's. I am not an expert so please do your own research. The WWII F-S knives had three pattern productions. The 3rd pattern productions are the most popular among collectors although many believe that the change in the thickness of the that pattern caused the knife to become less balanced. Many of the knives have a triangle at the top of the blade which is an indicator that it is one of the thicker blades. This knife is does not have the triangle at the top of the blade but is considered to be 3rd pattern production. There were four molds of these knives that were destroyed after WWII. Most of the WWII era knives have a number on the side of the pommel. So it is likely that anyone without a mold number is post-war era. Although there is no hard and fast rule dating these knives as there were many variations. Some examples of this would be the WWII era productions shipped to the US during that time or used by the French Military. Inspection numbers are also common on these knives and well as ^ markings The reasons I believe this is a post-war knife; o The Stamp on the finger guard says "Made in Sheffield England ". Sheffield is not believed to be used read more
