Up for bid is a Authentic Reproduction of an Old Time Favorite Cast Iron Mechanical Bank. It's called " The William Tell Bank" It depicts the Famous Book Story and Folklore Character called William Tell . According to legend, he actually practiced shooting his cross bow by placing apples on his son's head and shooting them off. Obviously the man was a Marksman, as his son lived to be a ripe old age. Many fine details are featured of the clothing and attire of the era. The way it works is: You slide by the loading mechanism on top of his crossbow, Then you place a coin on top of the crossbow.. To activate the Bank, Your push down on William Tell's right Boot. The coin shoots toward his son and if it was a good aim, It knocks the apple off the young boy's head. . When the apple is knocked off, The coin falls into the Bank below. Coins are retrieved by removing the coin plug located on the bottom of the Bank. (see pictures). It measures 10-1/4 inches long by by 6-1/2 inches high. The base measures 3-1/2 inches wide at its widest part. On the bottom is stamped " Classic Iron".
