This piece comes unframed. It is a photo-mechanical lithograph printed on CANVAS in color. It is hand signed with a silver ink marker. ONLY FIVE OF THESE WERE EVER MADE ".In 1995 The Gryphon Group/Gryphon Galleries contracted with William Verdult to make 500 signed and numbered limited-edition lithographs (475 lithographs numbered 1-475 plus 25 Artist Proofs) of thirty of his paintings. Due to very unusual circumstances, to date, very few of these lithographs have made it into circulation and now after 20 years Gryphon Galleries is letting go of it's 10 "Publisher Proofs" of these rare images.Each lithograph has "Copyright 1995 Gryphon Group Ltd." printed on it in the lower left margin. This pre-dates, by nearly a decade, the controversy over some of his later works. If you are not familiar with the works of William Verdult or the interesting stories that have surfaced in the past 10 years then google his name. You will find a multitude of stories about him that are sure to keep his works in the public eye for decades to come. His originals have appraised for several thousand to hundreds of thousands of dollars each.The regular numbered limited edition lithographs that were produced back in 1995 have appraised at $1,750 to $2,150 each. No appraisal has been done to my knowledge of something as rare as the ten (10) "Publisher Proofs"
