DARK HORSE SYROCO FIGURE WILMA DEERING FROM BUCK ROGERS The original Syrocos (part of the collectibles category now called âeoeSyroco-like figures) date back to the 1930s and âe~40s, taking their name from the company that manufactured them, the Syracuse Ornamental Company, later Syroco. They originally manufactured a line of novelty items that included cigarette boxes, pipe racks, plates, serving trays, and figurines of popular entertainers and public personalities that were meant for sale in roadside souvenir shops. The most notable Syrocos included public figures such as George Washington. For many years, though, the Syroco-like figures from the same period featuring characters belongs to King Feature Syndicate were thought by collectors to have been produced by Syroco. It has since been discovered that they were produced by Multi-Prodcuts of Chicago, IL. In 2000, Dark Horse revived one the Syroco style of figures with their Classic Comic Characters line, which captures the look of the originals. Although they continue to produce hit lines of figures in this style, they have completely sold out of the original series.
