at Ocean View Sanitarium, we pride ourselves in being fully committed to the committed. I am Nurse Linda. I am one of Mr. Bony's nurses & have known Mr. Bony for years while he has been a resident of Ocean View. A few years back he started making these Halloween candy containers in arts & crafts & now they are accumulating everyw through out the sanitarium. Somehow a few of them have ended up in my room & I have decided to thin the population for Mr. Bony (don't tell him). I will describe them individually as I list them, but I would like to explain a little about how Mr. Bony makes them. Mr. Bony loves candy. The early candy containers that were made years ago inspire him. One day while helping the children in the art room make animals out of paper mache, Mr. Bony had an idea. He wanted to make a Halloween candy container just like the ones from the old days. He made one & has not stopped. He is quite obsessed (or maybe possessed?) with them & thinks every one else should be. All of Mr. Bony's Halloweenies are made of paper mach'e. Most of them are candy containers but some are what he calls "movers & shakers" These are contraptions that have a wind up or battery operated mechanism loaded inside so they move about. All of Mr. Bony's containers & contraptions have a spring loaded "spring thingy" head so they all wobble when touched. Mr. Bony also uses found objects like old toys or early Halloween items to enhance his work. Things go missing all the time from the institution & sooner or later they end up in a Mr. Bony creation. We nurses & attendants know what is going on, but look the other way. Mr. Bony molds them, sands, paints & seals them & finally adds that Mr. Bony magic. So that's it. Mr. Bony was helping the ground floor maintenance supervisor clean out an old storage bin that was infested with rat droppings when he found a box of old Halloween decorations. He pulled out this really beat up, half eaten 5" paper mach'e choir boy pumpkin, & some how it ended up in his room. He had an old toy mechanism that when wound moved back & fourth, but it had no key. He inserted it into the pumpkin & put a wooden dowel in the rod that was originally for the key. He wound it up & the mechanism moved from side to side along with the dowel. Thinking what to do with the weird way the dowel moved back & fourth he had a vision (he has visions all the time) Because the pumpkin was so ripped up in the back with a huge hole, he had room to make a second face, one that looks like a bully boy (not the sweet choir boy) & what do bully boys do? They smoke! So he made the dowel look like a cigarette. Now, w t's smoke, t's fire & w t's fire you usually find these guys. Mr. Bony made a two faced devil & put them inside the JOL. When you wind the cigarette up they rock from side to side holding their little treat buckets. Both of their heads have that "springy thingy" neck so it wobbles about when it's in motion or simply touched. On the choir boy's, the devil has skull buttons & is holding a JOL treat pail. The bully side's devil is also smoking & is holding a sickly pale green melon pail (that was probably from smoking also). It is 14" high & is a "mover & shaker" on a candy box. The box is a 4" round & on the outside Mr. Bony painted cool flames & on the inside he painted a devil with a skull background. Now that you can't catch your breath from all that smoke, why get some fresh air & click on my other offerings that are waiting for you. Yes. They wait, just for you.
