Wind Up Tin Farm Tractor and Trailer Vintage style Farm Tractor and Trailer The Farm Tractor and Trailer features sturdy construction and a classic design âe" a terrific collectors item that would make a great addition to any collection. This quality built tractor also would make a great toy for the child or grand child. The period of 1850âe"1950 was the golden age for tin toys âe" by the 1970s tin toys were being displaced by those made of plastic and die_cast metal. T is no electronics or nano action, just pure toy function, all by itself.The appealing qualities of tin are all present in this piece and the bright colors, folded tab construction and lithographic printing. This model features a wind_up motor with a manual three_speed transmission plus reverse. Nimble front suspension handles any terrain, and a handbrake is included for emergency stops or a pause in the farm routine.Rubber tires and an all_metal body, chassis and steering gear complete this model . The Tractor and trailer is in original box. Clockwork style motor has a 4 speed gear box transmission that snap shifts from the shift lever next to the tractorâe(tm)s seat. Tractor has 3 forward speeds, neutral and reverse. Similar shift pattern as the real thing. Runs on winding. The on /off lever is at the drivers seat left side. The key wind up hole is in the center of the right rear wheel axle. Working Steering, Detachable trailer made of tin with tractor treaded tires and wheels. This unit is 12'' long and comes in the original box. The steering wheel is functional and turns the front wheels. Quality design and function with the tie rod assembly and wheel bearing mounts. Slotted front grille. Deep stamped lithographed tin, Soft rubber wheels. Detailed features, with the side mount front headlamps, exhaust stack. Stamped tin features are highlighted with 4 color tin lithographed detail. The front wheels operate on a live pivot from the hitch bar with rubber wheels and load chains. The rear trailer gate actually hinges down and is held in place by a L latch pin on each side. The trailer hitch pin even has a capture chain! Tractor sets donâe(tm)t get more realistic than this. Tractor is 6" inches long and the outside rear wheelbase is 3" 1⁄2 inches. Tractor stands 4" inches tall. The trailer bed is 5" 3⁄4 by 3" 1⁄4 inches. The farm set coupled together is approximately 13" inches in length.
