It was a dark and stormy night... This lovely enamel button is entirely handmade, and depicts an autumn tree blown by the wind, shades of brown, green and orange against a purple sky. The fine silver wire work is elaborate, and the glass has depth and vibrancy, set into a sterling silver bezel. It's a lot of drama packed into a 1 1/4" button. Cloisonne enameling is an ancient technique, which involves creating images in fine silver wire, then filling the spaces with powdered glass, called enamel. Each thin layer is fired in a kiln at 1450 degrees until it fuses. There are 5 layers in this piece...and it will NEVER fade. This button measures 1 1/4" round. It represents hours of careful work, with each step done by hand. Your questions are welcome!
