This Auction: we have another great vintage mola that is probably from around the 70s. This mola is antigua or old fashioned style which is reflected in the color scheme and the geometric shapes in the background. The symmetrical design is of 4 anchors in the spiral shape. This spiral shape is important in the Kuna culture because it represents life. Everything has a begining and an end and the Kunas do not fear death. This design is of the old style anchors that were seen on cruise ships and commerce ships when commerce began to arrive in San Blas. The two main layers of fabric are red and black with a significant layer of orange as well. This is a very well made that features invisible stitching. This mola was worn on a blouse. This mola measures aproximately 15x13. inches. As with all of our mola, it is completely handsewn by a Kuna Indian residing in the San Blas region of Panama. Thank you for looking.
