Wonderful Antique 1840s+ 14k Yellow Gold Mechanical Pencil w/ Jeweled TopPresented is a fantastic engraved 14k gold antique pencil with a monogram, made in America.The shaft is tested and guaranteed to be 14k gold.The rest of the parts (interior and sliders) are most likely steel.This pencil/pen dates from circa the 1840s to the 1860s.The design and form are excellent. The exteriors of this old writing instrument is nicely hand engraved with swirls, engravings, and floral images. The ends of the piece contains a purple glass "jewel".To extend the pencil lead, push up on the slider until it is revealed. The jeweled end unscrews to allow more lead to be added.This piece is monogrammed "JBN to ABN". There is a loop at the top so that this pencil may be added to a lady's chatelaine.Please scroll down to view all of our photos!It is in very good antique condition.
