Wood body Stanley transitional smoothing plane No 24 This was the general purpose smoothing plane of the woodwork shop in the early 20th century. It has a wooden body and cast iron adjuster mechanism. Intended for the traditionalists who valued the wooden sole but wanted the modern adjusters. Condition is very good, fitted with the original blade with plenty of length left. Stamped Stanley Bailey No 24. We sell a lot of ‘bench’ planes, block planes, rebate & router planes etc. All are stripped, cleaned and examined for cracks etc. The horrible original ‘crackly’ varnish is almost always removed and the handles refinished. All are oiled and reassembled with professionally reground and honed blades. Bodies are repainted if needed whilst stripped down. We have a large stock of most types of components and blades, just ask. Payment to be received within 7 days, unless you request us to hold the item for you.
