The original character has been preserved in this âeoeWood Ship Trunk/ Steamer Trunk. With limited research it appears that this ships trunk was built in the 1500âe(tm)s in Belgium or Germany . T are no marks as to dates or the maker. An Authenticator who looked at the trunk in 1987 thought it was of Swiss origin. The tapered sides were constructed to fit in the hull of the ships cargo storage. The trunk is 48âe long 29âe tall at the top and tappers down to 22âe. The hinges, side handles and lock are hammered steel. The wood corners are dovetailed and are assembled with square nails. This very solid trunk is original and has not been restored. It appears to be of pine lumber construction. A wood support holds the trunk open and the trunk has a small shelve box at the end with a wood lid. T is not a key for this trunk. To be picked up Lincoln, NE or shipping can be arranged at buyers cost.
