Hi, thanks for the interest in my work. These gnarly knots are from the Cape Fear Region of North Carolina. They are the remains of a southern pine tree after it has fallen and decayed. Because of the knot’s twisted, unusual shape, they are perfect for capturing these unique faces and bringing them to life. I began my journey as a woodcarver over 19 years ago and have spent countless hours of enjoyment perfecting my craft. I am inspired by the challenge and complexity of woodcarving, being able to create something of substance from a simple piece of wood, and I am grateful to be able to touch the wonder and emotion of others through my work. Each piece is unique, signed and dated. This carving measures 16.5" high 7" at its widest and 3" deep. Live well – Stephen
