THE WORCESTER TO HEREFORD RAILWAY ACT ----------- 15th August 1853 Historical 1853 document from the Great Western Railway Deads Department. "An Act for making a Railway from Worcester to Hereford with certain Branches therefrom and for other purposes. Printed by George Edward Eyre and William Spottiswoode, Printers to the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, 1856. 30 pages. Used. As might be expected, this document is a bit grubby, yellowed in proportion to its age and slightly tattered. The contents, however, are still perfectly readable. Size = 197 x 328 x 3mm. Weight packed = 100gm. History. Incorporated in 1853. This railway was opened by the Worcester and Hereford Railway in stages from 1859 to 1861 with the final section Malvern Wells to Shelwick Junction (Hereford) opened on 17 September 1861. The Worcester and Hereford Railway became part of the West Midland Railway on 1 July 1861 and the GWR on 1 August 1863.
