I am offering, this week, a series of photos either given to, or purchased by my grandfather at the end of World War I. Granddad was a private in the 52nd Pioneer Batallion. He served in France for about a year in 1918-1919. These photos all measure 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" and are black & white. They are marked with numbers in the lower left hand corner and have the words "Signal Corps USA," "US Official," or similar phrases printed on them. My grandfather pasted these photos on a photo album page and typed descriptions of each photo on the bottom. You will receive the entire page, pulled directly from the album. The photo in this lot reads: 26659 "FIGHTING IN THE STREETS" "Fierce fighting in the streets marked the entry of Americans into Grandpre. When this photo was taken the gun shown was still (at large) in position. 312th Machine Gun Co. , 78th Division October 18, 1918. Grandpre, Ardennes, France." Th ese photos are in wonderful shape and are guaranteed to be approximately 90 years old! They will be shipped to you in a bubble mailer, wrapped in plastic for extra protection. Shipping & handling is $4.00. I do offer shipping & handling discounts on multiple lot orders. Please check out my other auctions!
