T is a great deal of history associated with the 1893 Columbian Exposition. The first Ferris Wheel was introduced t It was 264 feet high and had 36 cars. Each car would hold 60 people. One of the cars carried a band that played when the wheel was in motion. The inventor of the Farris Wheel was of course George Ferris. John Phillip Sousa, the great marching bandleader, was one of the attractions. Another popular attraction was Little Egypt as introduced belly dancing to America. Louis Tiffany made his reputation t with a stunning chapel. Buffalo Bill Cody was refused permission for his Wild West show to perform inside the fair grounds because he was considered âeoetoo western.âe So Cody set-up his show just outside the exposition. T are so many different Columbian Exposition souvenir spoons that an entire collection could be made from them. This spoon is about 5.75 inches long and weighs about 24 grams.
