U.S. National Marconi Museum ( Bedford New Hampshire) identifies this Crystal Radio as a Model 14 built by Guglielmo Marconi for the US Army in 1917. This model has a battery powered buzzer which is used as a signal source in order to tune the detector ( Cat's wisker/ crystal) for it's most sensitive spot. Included with the sale of this receiver are two spare crystals. ( plus one in unit) They are displayed in one picture, placed beween two dimes. This receiver works with a long wire antenna and ground connection. It requires special head phones made for crystal radios. This radio is complete, except for a cover missing from the buzzer. I failed to clean the dust from the bakolite panel prior to taking these pictures, and it shows. It wipes off and is now gone. As stated, two spare crystal units are included as well as the article I have with the pictured Model 14 US Army radio, which is identical to this unit.
