Hand telephone unit from Radiomarine Corporation of America manufactured for Navy Department, Bureau of Ships with the mounted plate stating the contract date was on June 18, 1941. Heavy item with the plate also stating item weighs 5 pounds. Base is metal with the handset being a heavy bakelite material. Ear and mouthpiece have an aluminum band. Handset cord is heavy rubber and is not dryrotted although t is a couple of spilled paint spots. The handset cradle has two worn red rubber bumpers that have seen better days and could be easily replaced. The incoming line was a four pin cable that threaded into the phone. The back, bottom of the phone has two holes that I would guess were used to anchor the phone to a desk or table. This area is a bit bent thinking a plate was removed from with a little force but, again, this could be smoothed out pretty easy and, is not overly noticable to begin with. Bottom of phone has four hard rubber pads. Item is in quite nice condition and looks to have been nicely stored. The handset has white spotted swirls within it and is not from wear or abuse as I think the pictures might confuse you. It would seem that with a little tinkering, this unit could maybe set up to at least receive incoming calls on todays phone lines making it a functional display item! Will answer any questions.
