M40 German helmet from WW II battlefield at Memel (Klaipeda, Lithuania) My father's friend found it in 1954 when he was playing in the woods by the river Nemunas (Neman). Helmet has two bullet holes shot strait it (see pic). It is rusty , no paint left and no liner inside. But it is an authentic, original piece from WW2 battlefield. I got it from his son after my dad's friend passed away in exchange for a vinyl record in late 1977. So practically t was only three owners : german soldier, fathers friend and me. I was planned to build a crazy motorcycle helmet with bull horns , but later I obtained an original helmet and this helmet became an antique on the wall in my room. When I moved to USA, I brought it with me. But after I married, my wife can't stand to see it every day. She told me to put it away from her view. For her it is so scary even to look at a helmet with the bullet holes in it . She never wants to see it again because she always imagines a dying solder wearing this helmet. So instead this historic helmet caches a dust in the attic I rather try to sell it to someone who can enjoy it in his antique WW II collection.
