This genuine WW II combat, or fighting knife, was an issue item to the US Navy during the war. I acquired this very nice knife and several others from a collection a while ago; and now am offering it for sale. In this collection of knives, are some of the best examples of combat knives that I have had in quite awhile. So many of the WW II combat knives did not survive at all, and those that did are usually in terrible condition. Throughout the war all combat knives were in very short supply, and t were even drives in the States asking people to donate any knives they might have to soldiers serving in combat. This knife is made by Pal, and is marked: "U.S.N. Mark I" on one side of the blade and: "RH PAL Made in USA - 35" on the other side. It has a blade slightly longer than five inches, and is in fine condition with no signs of abuse whatsoever. This knife is pictured and explained on page 81 of M.H. Cole's Book III. M.H. Cole devoted several pages to the various Navy combat knives used in WW II. Many of these Navy knives ended up in the hands of Marines when they hit the shores during various invasions in WW II. This knife comes with the correct issued scabbard as well. This scabbard is in good servicable condition and is marked: "U.S.N. MK 1" on the front, and: "NORD - 8114 BM Co 1/2 VP" on the backside.
