Up for auction are 5 original letters and 1 postcard from AEF soldiers during World War I, as well as a photograph of them and some of their close-knit Philadelphia PA gang of pals. The censored postcard which is in poor condition with discoloration and creases, shows the Barracks for the 315th & 316th Infantry at Camp Meade, MD and is written on back: "Dear Joe, I can't say too much. I'll let you guess if you don't know already. Your old pal, Val" and refers to him shipping out for overseas duty. The letters are mostly postmarked June, 1918 (one is from Feb.), one from Val and 2 other friends. They discuss such things as drilling, skirmishing, bayonet and over the top drills, show battles, working as guard / orderly, visiting Washington DC, etc. The letters are written on YMCA, Knights of Columbus and the 315th Co.B Stationery and in total consist of 18 pages.
